Spirulina is probably one of the most well-known dietary supplements to be commonly called a “superfood”. This is surely justified considering how it can be a single point source for a wide variety of vitamins and nutrients.
Without any additional fortification spirulina in its natural form contains about 60% protein, 12 different vitamins and at least 8 minerals
that are essential for the body. These include B complex vitamins,
beta-carotene, vitamin E, manganese, zinc, copper, iron, selenium, and
gamma linolenic acid (an essential fatty acid). The protein in Spirulina
can be considered as a complete protein as it contains all the essential amino acids like Histidine, Leucine, Lysine etc.
